  • Politically Untrained Pilots

    Politically untrained Pilots.
When you’re on an airplane, you are putting your life into the pilot’s hands. Flying a plane is a complex task that requires specialized training, lots of practice, and keen focus and problem-solving skills, and we all just have to trust that the fine folks at the front of the plane are up to the task of keeping us alive. In politics, you put the lives in the country in the hands of a person who may not be educated, experienced or skilled for the job. No wonder then that there is economic crash and we hear about Unchallenged Wrong doing, corruption, and high cost of running the government. This affects the people who are plunged into poverty and hunger. –

  • You get the government that you elect. You cannot elect corrupt politicians and expect an honest government.

‘A people that elect corrupt politicians, imposters, thieves and traitors are not victims— but accomplices’ -George Orwell.

Chapter 16 advises how to change the Politics in your country. Get involved. Your vote counts.

  • The fight against Corruption starts in the home

The fight against corruption starts in the home. The home is the child’s first exposure to social interaction, to values, behaviour of those around them. They are good observers and imitators. It is here they learn discipline and good behaviour. “Children are great imitators. So give them something great to imitate.”

Parents and carers have a huge part to play. Spend quality time with them. Teach a child the way he/she should go, and she /he will not depart from it.

Teach them to be HONEST, to be HUMBLE and to be HUMANE
Teach them to be compassionate. To see suffering and injustice, and to aim to do something about it.

Teach them to be good and law abiding citizens. Teach them to be positive contributors to their society.

Teach them the value of hard work and to value money. To spend it judiciously .To use money to bring joy and comfort to themselves and others less fortunate. The more you give the more you get. Teach the difference between those who are rich as a result of hard work and innovation (who deserve respect) and those who acquire wealth in an unlawful manner.

Teach them to be assertive and to express their opinion without being disrespectful.
Teach them to show an interest in the affairs of their country, to have basic political knowledge and to be aware of divisive issues and to be environmentally conscious.
If you have a faith- teach them aspects of your faith which emphasises the love of your neighbour as yourself and the need for all men to live in love and peace with each other.
The basic on going home background training should be further reinforced at all stages of their formal education.
Teach a child ,build a nation.

Children are the living messages we send to a time we will not see. — John F. Kennedy

There can be no keener revelation of a society’s soul than the way in which it treats its children. — Nelson Mandela

“Children must be taught how to think, not what to think.” — Margaret Mead, cultural anthropologist
